Now that comfort has taken the fashion world by storm, it’s only inevitable that it will catch up to the hair industry sooner or later.
And, really, summer is a timely season for so.
Summer is the season of comfort and easy-yet-fabulous looks. It’s all about casual and looseness. So it isn’t surprising that the trending hairstyles of the season embody just that.
Below I give you these three trendy summer hairstyles, how to do them, and DIY tips on achieving the perfect summer look with them. Enjoy!
Double Dutch/French Braids

From Kim K. to her sister Kylie Jenner who flaunted this braided look back in Coachella, the double dutch/french braids has definitely flown out of its athletic common room.
How To Do It
To create this look, simply part your hair in the center. Do so with a rat-tail comb or whatever object that can create a fine line. Don’t do it with your finger because it may create a zig-zaggy line instead and that doesn’t look neat. Start dutch-braiding the first half of your hair—left under middle, right under middle—and grab a small section along the way until you reach your desired end and tie it with an elastic. Then, do the same with the other half.
Some Helpful Tips!
+ While braiding the first half, it’s ideal to twist and pin the other half. That way, none of the locks on the second half will stray into the first one.
+ Use a gel, leave on or a dry conditioner before braiding. This will not only help in keeping your braid sleek, but your hair will look fabulously wavy afterwards! I highly recommend Aussie Hair Insurance Leave Conditioner. Here's the thing: I have frizzy hair that spikes on top of my head like a hedgehog's. And this product just tames it. There's no 'waxy' feel or any residue and the waves after loosing the double dutch braids is frizzless. Just amazing.
+ Have a friend help! No shame here. I had my friend Candice to help pull together this look. ;)
Space Buns

Space buns are super super easy to do and I’m telling you right now: almost everyone looks cute in them, even if you think you won't. Space buns have been a common look in Japan. It has a permanent place in the Harajuku fashion, a style combining the cute and psychedelic, and also in many anime. (Think Sailor Moon!)
How To Do It
For the whole updo, divide your hair into two parts—it doesn’t have to be exactly equal. Gather the hair in one part and tie them in high pigtails. You can either create a sock bun or simply twist the pigtails into a knot.
The same goes for a half-up double bun look. The only difference is that you leave the bottom half of your hair down.
Some Helpful Tips!
+ Space buns can create different vibe, from kawaii to grunge—depending on how neat or undone your buns are.
+ The buns are pretty much the attention-giving accessory you’ll need but an added beauty is by pinning ornaments like flower or bejeweled hairpins or putting glitters on your part—this works especially well with center parts.
+ For a level-up on the cuteness (or maybe if you’re in a hurry), simply grab a small section each on both sides of your head, twist and pin. This could take up at most three minutes and you’ll have a cute hairdo already. #Win!
Half-Up Bun

Among the three, this is the easiest one to do. It’s so simple and the best thing about this is that you can wear it in almost anywhere!
How To Do It
Simply take a small section around the top of your head and twist it into a knot. A neatly gathered bun in the middle of your head is great for office or anywhere formal. The look is classy and there’s a feminine vibe to it. Meanwhile, a messy bun around the top of your head can create an edgy or half-done look that’s more fitting in a casual scenario.
Some Helpful Tips!
+ When creating a messy bun, you want to scrunch up your hair before and after tying it into a knot, especially ladies with stick-straight hair. My personal go-to for adding volume into my hair is Organix Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner. Unlike other volumizers, these two products don't strip away the moisture in your hair to lift it up. And the smell is a wonderful bonus too!
+ For the sleek ‘do, spritzing some hair straightening-products and smoothing your hair out with a comb makes for a neat and sleek look. I will reiterate the awesomeness of Aussie Hair Insurance Leave Conditioner because it definitely tames my frizzy hair.
In the end, all the matters is that you're having fun in what you're wearing. Trends won't last forever but confidence will never go out of style!
Much love and forever kindly,
